“ Детектив Шоу”

Конспект внеклассного мероприятия по английскому языку для учащихся 7 классов по теме «Чтение» в форме игры

“ Детектив Шоу”.

(составлен Михалёвой О. В., учителем английского языка первой квалификационной категории)

 

Разработка внеклассного мероприятия по английскому языку для 7 класса в форме игры «Детектив шоу» по теме «Чтение (по УМК «Английский в фокусе» Учебник английского языка для 7 класса общеобразовательных учреждений/Ваулина Ю. В., Дули Дж., Подоляко О. Е., Эванс В.

 

Задачи: 1 .Способствовать повышению мотивации при изучении английского языка.

              2. Формировать мыслительные операции.

              3. Развивать навыки аудирования.

              4. Активизировать материал по теме «Чтение».

Оборудование: карточки с заданиями по 3 комплекта,3англо-русских словаря, презентация.

Участники игры: ведущий (учитель английского языка), 3 команды учащихся 7 класса по 8 человек, 2 ученика, участвующих в сценке, зрители (остальные семиклассники, изучающие английский язык).

 

Ход игры: Ведущий: Hallo! Glad to see you at our TV programme that is called « A Detective Show». Look! There are three teams of detectives: a team of form 7 A, a team of form 7 B and a team of 7 C. So today we are given a chance to be detectives of our school. And we’ll see whose group is the best one. Each detective should be intellectual, well-educated, fast, careful, quick-witted and clever and should have willingness to cooperate. So let’s start.

 

Round 1 “Intellectual”.  Each detective should be intellectual you are given cards. Your task is to make up sentences. Командам выдаются карточки с частями предложений, задание - составить  из этих частей предложения.

 

Ключи:  

1. Stratford-upon-Avon is William Shakespeare’s birthplace.

2. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Scotland in 1859 and studied medicine at the University of Ediburgh.

3. Hercule Poirot was a Belgian detective famous for his neat appearance and his use of psychology.

4. Miss Marple was nothing like a typical detective.

5. Agatha Christy was the world’s best known mystery writer and the “Queen of Crime”.

 

После выполнения задания за каждый правильный ответ командам даются баллы. Максимальное число баллов – 5.

Thank you for your work. You are rather intellectual.

 

 

 

Round 2 “ Well-educated”. You should find the equivalent of the English proverb. Do it quickly. Ready, begin! Командам выдаются карточки с пословицами на английском и русском языках, задание – соотнести английские пословицы с русскими.

English proverbs                                                                Russian equivalents

1. East or West, home is best.                                В гостях хорошо, а дома лучше.

2.  First think, then speak.                                      Сначала думай, потом говори.                                    

3. As clear as day.                                                   Ясно, как день.   

4. Better late than never.                                         Лучше поздно, чем никогда.

Максимальное число баллов за этот конкурс – 11 (1 балл за быстроту выполнения)

 

Round 3 is called “The fastest”. So a good detective should be very fast. You are given 5 words and a dictionary. Find the translation of these words very quickly and try to remember them. Are you ready? Start!

(После выполнения задания подводится итог.)

So the team of (7…) was the fastest. My congratulations! Now let’s check up:

 

  • Conversation    -     разговор
  • Colonel            -      полковник
  • Disappearance -      исчезновение
  • Stables             -     конюшни
  • Steal (stole, stolen) - воровать.

 

You have found the translation of 5 words and you can understand the conversation between a real detective and his friend better.  Let us listen to the dialogue. (Инсценировка отрывка произведения  А. Конон Доуэля “Silver Blaze”.)

 

Watson: For days there seemed to be only one subject of conversation in England: the disappearance of the racehorse Silver Blaze and the murder of John Straker. So I was not surprised to find myself with Holmes travelling down to the West Country to investigate the case.

Holmes: Of course, I have been asked to go to Dartmoor.

Watson: By whom?

Holmes: By colonel Ross, the owner of the horse that had disappeared.

Watson: John Straker worked for him, didn’t he?

Holmes: Yes, in the stables. He was colonel Ross` trainer. He was killed on the same night that the horse was stolen.

Watson:  I’m surprised they haven’t found Silver Blaze.

Holmes: Exactly.

 

Round 4 “Careful”.

So you should be very careful to investigate the case. Answer my questions, please:

            1) What famous detective could you see in that dialogue? (Miss Marple or Sherlock Holmes)

            2) What is the name of his best friend? (Dr Watson)

            3) What was the subject of their conversation?

•        The murder of a black cat.

•        The kidnapping of  a tiger.

•        The disappearance of the racehorse Silver Blaze.

            4) Who was the owner of the horse?

1.      Captain Smith.

2.      Colonel Ross.

3.      Bert Baxter, a pensioner.

           5) Who created these characters as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson? (sir A.C. Doyle) 

 

Round 5 “Willingness to cooperate”.

It is a very important trait that good detectives must have.  Round 5 is also called “A Deaf Telephone”. 

   One person from the each team should come up to me and read a sentence from the card silently, then tell it to your partner in turn. After that the last detective should pronounce the sentence. We’ll hear the result.

Команды играют в «Глухой телефон». По одному человеку от каждой команды подходят к ведущему и выбирают карточки с предложениями:

 

 

  Card 1:  * Oscar Wild wrote a short story ‘The Canterville Ghost’.

                * Daniel Defoe used real adventures of a sailor to write ‘Robinson Crusoe.

 

 Card 2:   * William Shakespeare often acted in his own plays.

                * The English poet Byron fought in the Greek war of independence (in 1921).

 

Card 3:   * The book I’m reading now is “Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe.

         * Sir A.C. Doyle created Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.

 

Ведущий зачитывает правильный вариант, подводит итог конкурса.

Good for you. We see that the group of (ladies or gentlemen) was the best one. They have willingness to cooperate.

 

Round 6 has the title “Quick- witted”.

The task is to match the texts with the pictures. Do it properly and quickly. Begin!

Round 7  “Clever”.

  • Writer, woman, the 20-th century, Miss Marple, “Queen of Crime”, Devon, England. (A. Christie)
  • Edinburgh, medicine, detective, faithful companion, to smoke a pipe, a magnifying glass.  (Arthur Conan Doyle)

 

Thank you very much. Now we’ll sum up the results of our TV show.  I can say that you are intellectual, well-educated, fast, careful, quick-witted and clever. You are good detectives!

  5. What did sir A.C. Doyle study at the University of Edinburgh? (medicine)

Приложение 1 (Round 6):

  • Text 1.When Mr Hiram B Ottis, the American ambassador, bought Canterville Chase, everyone told him it was a very foolish thing to do, as the place was haunted.

 

  • Text 2.  “The (Jungle) book” was written in 1894-1895 in America. The characters are wild animals and a human being. Mowgli is the child of an Indian wood-cutter (дровосек). He got lost in the jungle. The book is beautifully written by Rudyard Kipling.

 

  • Text 3. ( Mark Twain is famous for “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. Here is an extract from this book: )

      “No school. But I must work”, thought Tom as he came with a bucket of whitewash and a brush. He looked at the fence – it was very long and high…”

 

  • Text 4. (“Journey to the Centre of the Earth”) This book by Jules Verne is an adventure story about a professor, Otto Lidenbrock, and his nephew Axel. After they find a mysterious message from explorer Arne Saknussemm in an old book, they go on a dangerous journey to look for the centre of the Earth.

 

  • Text 5. (In “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” by Jules Verne) Captain Nemo travels under the sea in his submarine, the Nautilus. On his journeys he meets strange sea creatures and finds an underwarter city.

 

  • Text 6. I walked about, but was still very weak, and I felt miserable about my sickness. At night I had three turtle’s eggs, which I roasted in the ashes for supper.
